EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
We are well into the new year and have had a busy schedule of MCLE events since the Holidays. In January, Member, James Kamanski, gave an excellent ethics program on how to avoid en- tanglements with the State Bar.
In February, we got a view from the other side of the issue when State Bar President Patrick Kelly gave another ethics pro- gram, with a written quiz called “Ethics Jeopardy,” and fielded a lot of questions and comments from our members about the State Bar.
It was clear that we made an impression on Mr. Kelly be- cause his column in the March, 2013 State Bar E-Journal ad- dressed many of our Members’ questions in an article entitled “What is the State Bar and what does it do.” It can be found at (http://www.calbarjournal.com/March2013/Opinion/FromthePresid ent.aspx)
Our March speaker was Scott Wyant of Information Systems Analysis and Design LLC, who gave a great power point presen- tation about technology for small businesses, with an emphasis on law practices.
We also have been busy with other things. We had a mem- bership drive which raised the number of our Members to close to 100. We also want to express our thanks to Board Member Mark Tseselsky for putting together a Facebook page for CMBA (https://www.facebook.com/CulverMarinaBarAssociation). Please take a look at that page and “Like” CMBA.
The CMBA website is also being updated and the online membership directory is now current as to all Members who wanted to be in the directory. Please check out your directory list- ing at http://culvermarinabar.org/roster2.php to make sure that it is correct, as we will shortly be finalizing our 2012-13 written directo- ry, which will be distributed to all paid members.
